Delaware Park, Buffalo lodging for several families

Our niece is getting married in June at the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park. We are planning to make it a family reunion. Any ideas on lodging, things to see etc. Not interested in anything too rustic. Thanks.

The outdoor Allentown Art Festival, in Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday June 12 and 13, 2010.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin house has been restored and is open to the public--

You may enjoy the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Although not completed in time, the original building was Intended to serve first as the Fine Arts Pavilion of the Pan-American Exposition in 1901.

All three attractions are in Buffalo, in general proximity to Delaware Park.

Niagara Falls is about 20 miles from Buffalo.

As for places to stay, you might see if arrangements have been made for a block of rooms at an area hotel.

There are two new hotels in Buffalo that you should check out... The Embassy Suites at 200 Delaware is only days old and puts you minutes away ... and the Hampton Inn on Chippewa Street is in the heart of the party district... both are new and clean... stay away from the Holiday Inn on Delaware... it is old and dated... If you want super swanky, the Mansion on Delaware is where the money stays... If it is during the Art Festival, Delaware is closed to traffic near the festival, and it is harder to get a room...

Gary gave you good advice about hotels. There is also a Hyatt in downtown Buffalo. I've been in the Embassy and it's lovely. Figure in parking cost also if you stay downtown. YOu might also consider staying in Amherst, a suburb. There are clusters of chain hotels near Maple and Millersport (Marriott, Residence Inn, Hotel Indigo, Motel 6 or ~, another suite hotel), a Homewood Suites on Millersport, and more chains on Niagara Falls Boulevard. Nothing is too far away in Buffalo-if you stay in amherst, you will be 15 minutes from Delaware Park, and 20-25 minutes from Niagara Falls.

Buffalo has some great restaurants. Tell us what your interests are for activities and what type of restaurants you're looking for and I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice. I would recommend staying at one of the suggested downtown restaurants if you want to get a real "Buffalo" feel for the area. The suburban hotels are also fine but in a more sterile area.

That should be downtown hotels, not restaurants.
