Breckenridge or Keystone, CO
We are planning a getaway at the end of March and wondered which area is better and where to stay. We like to have access to shopping, restaurants, etc.. within walking distance. As for lodging we are looking for a three or four star hotel or condo for 2 adults. We would also like to have views of the mountains and be able to walk to the ski slopes. Any recommendations?

You will have plenty of all of what you're looking for in both places. Breckenridge is a town, Keystone is a resort with small villages. I recommend a condo, whichever place you choose. Don't worry about being right at the ski area, both places have shuttles (free). I live in Keystone because it's more suited to my likes. Breck is nice but it's more of a party town. Keystone is more walkable.

I'd recommend Breck because it’s a quaint old town, has a couple of fabulous restaurants and the skiing is extensive. If you’re looking for a place to stay, the Marriott, Hyatt Main Street Station or Park Ave Lofts will meet your needs.

Tonight is my last night in vail
Man, what an awesome place.
I have been at the Vail Cascade Resort for 5 glorious days.
The resort lift is literally 30 feet from my room door... but we have gone to Lionshead and Vail Village on the free shuttle.
Record breaking snowfall, great skiing!
I certainly recommend it if you are willing to consider another location.

TxTP--we've stayed at the Cascade and absolutely love it there, too! Color me green with envy ;-)
We like Breck so much we've never tried Keystone but have heard great reviews from friends who ski there.
In Breckenridge, we always stay at Beaver Run Resort--it is ski in / ski out. We can walk to town to shop or eat but if it's too cold or we're too tired there's a free shuttle. And we love the skiing at Breck!! I believe a new quad chair opened this season to Peak 8??? Will check it out in February when we return.
