3 days in San Diego coming up. What is a great place fro breakfast. We are staying in the gaslamp district at the Marriott...they have breakfast buffet but would rather try something else.

The Broken Yolk, Hob Nob Hill, Adam's Steak and Eggs. These should get you started until others chime in. Of course burgers from Hodad's make for a great late breakfast too!

For something different - check out the Hotel Del. Think they have brunch on weekends but you can still have breakfast during the week. Double check for sure - as with all suggestions.

And there are also places in Mission Beach or Pacific Beach - or La Jolla that are fun and have views of the Ocean.

In Ocean Beach - we used to like the Huevos Rancheros at Margarita's - on Newport.

Also like "Habit" burgers a lot.

And in Hillcrest - in addition to the suggested Hob Nob Hill (which I really like - more old style - good value-good food) - is the "hotter" spot - Hash House a Go Go, which has very good food but also costs more.

Not downtown, but worth the trip, Brockton Villa in La Jolla.

For a bit funky - with a great view - the Living Room in La Jolla - more of a pastry/sandwich type place.

And in today's paper - a number of other fine places to dine outside and enjoy the finest weather in the continental US - including the deck/Ocean Terrace at George's in La Jolla, the best view/deal of all - Cocktail hour at C Level - Harbor Drive/by the airport, Puesto at the Headquarters - Harbor Drive, The Fish Market downtown/by the USS Miday - as well as Anthony's Fishette - a couple blocks up the Embarcadero, and even Tower 23 in Pacific Beach.

Then there are the great Mexican food places - our favorite being the back patio of Cafe Guadalajara - by Old Town - especially when the Mariachis come out to play.

Une plus - the Girard St Gourmet in La Jolla - with great french pastries, quiche, soups, etc - and my favorite Chicken Salad sandwich of all. They also have a few tables out on the sidewalk - or benches.

I loved Snooze in Hillcrest, though it's been a couple of years since I was there. It's not too far from the Gaslamp district, but you'd need a car.

Ate at the Denver branch of Snooze, very good breakfast place, I really enjoyed it

I was going to recommend cafe 222 - http://www.cafe222.com/ - elizzie did - great breakfast - super crowded so be prepared to wait a little.

There is a new - very chic Belgian waffle/sandwich place - Bruxie - out at SD State - about 8 miles inland - at College - south of I-8.
