Thanks everyone for all the recommendations. Camellia Grill and Cafe Adelaide have been added to the breakfast lineup. As far as Emeril's goes...I have read hundreds of reviews on dozens of websites and the opinons seem to be 50/50. We are big Food Network fans, when we went to NYC we ate at Bobby Flay's, when we went to Savannah we ate at Paula Dean's, so we simply can't go to New Orleans without eating at Emeril's. If it's not up to par we surely will not return.
Okay, so now that the meals are set it's on to the snacks and drinks. Where to for the best pralines, muffalettas, and bloody bulls??

mark - I say that the risks to tourists are overstated because people are led to believe that danger lurks around every corner and that it is unsafe to walk a few blocks after dark in the French Quarter.
Every guidebook comes with dire warnings about safety and whenever serious crimes do occur in the FQ, the news spreads like wildfire.
A year or so after Katrina, a man was shot on Bourbon street. This man was a former resident of NO with criminal ties who had come back to town. He got into a fight with some people he knew in the wee hours of the morning, and was shot. However, news of this story quickly morphed into OMG!!! A TOURIST WAS SHOT ON BOURBON STREET!!!
This is the sort of thing I mean by the dangers being overstated.

I'm glad you decided on Camelia Grill. They make some of the best breakfasts in town. Try the chili cheese omelette. I know that sounds different, but honestly you will be knocked off your feet by it.
The streetcar ride to Camelia Grill is pleasant and I couldn't think of a better way to spend the morning hours.
On another day, I'd recommend doing Breakfast at Brennan's. It's a tradition, and since you didn't have Brennan's on your list, it would be a nice add on.
As already said, Cafe Du Monde is not to be missed, and there's no better way than to sit on the patio and watch the people if the weather is nice (which is iffy in late January).
Mardi Gras is late February, so those crowds won't be there when you arrive. Should be a nice relatively quiet time to visit, especially mid week like you are visiting.
By the way, the Intercontinental is awesome!
