Brandywine Valley

Where is the best place to stay for a few nights to explore this area-the most unique and romantic?

The Inn at Montchanin in "chateau country" just outside of Wilmington, Delaware would fit the bill. Many of the rooms are duplexes, converted from Dupont mill workers homes. There's also a nice restuarant on site - Krazy Kats. http://www.montchanin.com/

This is a very good website for planning visits to the area:

If you're into art, and especially Wyeths, the Brandywine River Museum is on Route 1 in Chadds Ford. Lovely site, nice walk outside along the ... Brandywine River.
