Boston South Station Amtrak

I know I'm being a little paranoid here but wanted to ask some safety questions. I'm taking C&J Trailways from Maine to the Boston South Station. C&J drops you off at the bus station which is a short walk to the train station. I'll be coming back into BOS at 8p at night and wondering of the area around the train station and the bus station are safe areas? Is the walk from between the two safe? Thanks for any info.

It's all one gigantic building complex, you don't really even have to go outdoors.

Yup, they're right next to one another. Just follow the sign for the train station. It's very safe, and since the T stop is at the train station, chances are a good number of your fellow bus passengers will be heading the same direction as you are.

Dear DJCV!~please continue to be paranoid. Then confident in whatever situation you are in. When traveling you will have success and happiness, and will always find amazing people who are angels along your path who will help you, but always be prepared. This is a legitimate posting. Good for you for asking. Its OK!

Used to be a sketchy area, but no longer. With building of Convention Center about 1/4 mile away, several hotels and completion of Big Dig, I would have no concerns (beyond that normal to walking in a city) walking in the immediate area.

South Station is fine - even at 8pm. As already stated, the bus and train terminals are enclosed in the same building. It's very similar to an airport terminal with open space, food courts, ticket counters.

Even if you had to go outside, South Station is in the business/financial district. It's not a seedy area at all.
