Boston Hilton or Marriott?

The Marriott Copley has slightly nicer and larger rooms, but the difference isn't enormous. The Marriott also has a slightly better location (connected directly to the Copley Place-Prudential shopping and office complex), but the Hilton is only a few minute's walk away.
If all other things are equal, I'd take the Marriott. If I were paying real money (which I understand you're not) and the Hilton was more than, say, $25/night less than the Marriott, I'd take the Hilton.

We stayed at the Back Bay Hilton over Memorial Day weekend (also using Hilton points) and we quite pleased with the facility.
Our room was excellent and the staff was well trained and totally service oriented. We were very impressed with the hotel...an excellent experience.
As the previous posted said, the Marriott does have a slightly better location, but there's not that much difference in their proximity to the sites.

We've stayed at the Hilton twice now both times in King Deluxe rooms. But the rooms were very different from each other to the extent that it didn't feel like we were staying in the same hotel. The first time we had a room with a double shower, contemporary sleek furnishings with a blue and gold decor, a huge window overlooking the dome of the Mother Church of Christian Science (a really beautiful building).
The second time we had a more traditional looking room with chintz, floral furnishings and watercolor scenes of Boston etc. The room was much larger than the first, no double shower but it did have a balcony and overlooked the Back Bay and the Charles River.
Both were nice but I thought it was weird to have such different decors in the same category of room in the same hotel.

I haven't stayed at the Hilton, but did stay at the Marriott. I agree that the Copley Place location is slightly better, but I cannot understand how the rooms at the Marriott could be larger than the Hilton, since the Marriott's rooms were some of the smallest I have ever stayed in (in the US).
