Booking Alcatraz via Internet

I called our hotel (the Rex) to get the best place to book an Alcatraz tour online and they said use telesails.com. I'm sharing this info 1) because I'm nice; and 2) to see if other Fodorites have used it successfully.

Thank you very much! Don't expect there will be much difference in price but will compare both places just for "drill".

Well guess what? The general telephone number for TeleSails is the same as for Blue and Gold! At the TS website, it said tickets were not available for the day/time we wanted. However, on Blue and Gold they were, so I went ahead and booked with Blue and Gold. Veddy interesting...

DH and I have spent our last 10 years going to Italy and Paris with idea that we'd visit U.S. cities "later". Well, "later" has come. We spent a fabulous week in NYC (before discovering this Fodor's site) last year and San Fran is next on our list. I topped quite a few SF suggestions and must say that DK books seem to be very "with it".

Rex was recently remodeled, good location. One local guy told me they have a good bar.
