Boating on Lake Powell

We will be at Lake Powell for almost a week this August. I know...can I say "HOT"! That's OK, we are going with my BIL and SIL and they are bringing their ski boat.

What I'm looking for is a good book about boating on Lake Powell. Places to explore that can only be reached by boat. I already know about Rainbow Bridge. That will be our first outing. Also if anyone knows of a good map of the lake.

Thanks,

Utahtea

Utahtea - You've given me and many other a great deal of superb information. It's nice to have a chance to reciprocate. It's been years since I've been on the lake and then, not very much, but you might want to take a look at this web site.

The map it offer has both sightseeing and navigational information. On a lake as big as Powell, unless someone with you knows it quite well, it's always good to have a navigational chart.
Take LOTS of sunscreen and have a great trip.

Thanks Dwooddon,

I've found three different maps on Lake Powell and was wondering if you had purchased this map. I've had someone else recommend the Stan Jones map.

I had one several years ago and it was good but I have nothing to compare it to so I don't know if its better or worse than the others.

Utahtea-Did you check this link?

http://www.lakepowell.org

I got it from one of our boating sites we use. There is also a recreational boating usenet group which may be able to help. rec.boats.cruising.

Have fun!
