Blue Man Group - Boston
I have never seen a "Blue Man Group" show. I hear it is really something special ... I will only have a week in Boston. Should I go see it? Does anyone know how much the tickets run? I have seen ticket-broker prices averaging $145. Hopefully, it will be a lot less.
Thanks

We saw Blue Man Group in Boston. It was quite an usual experience, which we enjoyed very much. I believe our tickets were priced at or slightly above $50.00.
We purchased our tickets the day of the performance at the Bostix location at Copley Square. Typically the discount for tickets is 50%. The window opens at ll a.m. and we usually stand in line around 10:30. $145.00 is way tooo much to spend on a Blue Man performance and I believe totally unnecessary.
We had a good time but I will warn you, it is a very loud performance. A warning is posted upon entering and ear plugs are provided (and 3 out of the 4 of us used them to prevent hearing damange).
Have a great time in Boston.

We saw the Blue Man Group In Las Vegas, so I'm assuming it's the same show/format. My husband and I thought it was terrible. The banging on drums with paint was a very small portion of the whole show. The rest was not original at all and honestly quite boring. We paid good money and were disappointed. I wouldn't pay $145...$50 at the very most. Of course this is my opinion.

This is my report, I think, no idea why it has "dirty" in the URL, I am such a clean person! Language-wise, too.

Thanks everyone ... I knew prices would be a lot cheaper! Ticket Brokers are legalized mafia in my opinion
Anyway, I definitely want to go! I was thinking of sitting front row, but now I am not so sure. (I have trouble with my vision) Where should I sit? Is the theatre very big? - How is front row balcony?
Also, should it be ok to buy tickets from TicketMaster? I went to the Boston BMG website, and under tickets they gave the number to Ticket Master.
I won't be going for a few months, so I have time - I just like doing things early.
Thanks
(Thanks especially on the tip about ear plugs!! I have sound sensitivity due to illness!! -I will be sure to bring my own just in case they don't give me any!!!)

If you like zany comedy you will probably enjoy the show. It's a small theater and the audience gets in the spirit of things. The pre-show camera work was funny. I think you might be able to have them put up a message. I was sitting in the last row and even there, you are not safe from the comedy. The Blue guys went out into the audience with cameras to get close ups of audience reactions that were shown on the screens.
My husband OTH thought the show was overpriced. We went several years ago and the tickets were around $40. The show is "different" and unexpected. He thought it was just a more professional version of what teenage boys do when parents aren't around. Except ours never painted himself blue .. that we know of.

We sat in the balcony. Beware the balcony is shaped in a squared off "U". We sat on the side of the balcony and it was okay. Wallace_and_Gromit, if you sit in the balcony, you might want center facing the stage head on.
Regarding the earplugs...there is a sign posted and you must request the earplugs. No one publicizes it but there must be a reason for the sign - a valid one.
At that time, one of my sons suffered from tinnitus after attending a concert. Not a pleasant experience, so we took the precaution and frankly, we were glad we did. It takes nothing away from the performance.
Whatever you do, have fun!

I loved the Blue Man Group! It was actually the first date my husband took me on. It's a really fun show, not at all your typical one. As for buying tixx, if you don't have to go on a particular night while you're here, I'd go to the 1/s price ticket booth in Copley Square and try to get tickets there. They just sell tixx for the day of performances, but if you go on weekday, I can't imagine they'd be sold out. If you need a specific date, ticketmaster is probably the way to go.
