Big restaurant news

For you who visit Hilton Head regularly, you may find it big news that Charlie Golson is moving Charlie's L'Etoile Verte from his long time location in the Plantation Center. He has taken over what used to be Charleston's on New Orleans Road and will open there on December 16.
To complicate things, the man who has cooked all those wonderful meals at Charlie's for many years, Chad, has left Charlie and, along with the stellar service duo of Kathy and Terrell, is going to take over the former Charlie's and open it as the Sea Oats Grill. Current estimates have the Grill opening in early February of '04.
Charleston's had a (deserved IMHO) reputation as being a very noisy space and Nancy Golson, Charlie's wife, is busily decoprating the place in her eclectic style (she did the original L'Etiole Verte) and one hopes she'll find a way to stop the resounding echoes from diminishing the dining experience.
You have to wonder how the new operation will prosper if 3 of the big reasons the original operation was so successful (by which I mean Chad, Kathy and Terrell -- remember, Charlie was usually present during the lunch hour, but seldom at night when the big money was spent and big expectations demanded the best and that's when these three shined) will not be part of the new bistro.

Now please don't take this the wrong way. This is meant for future reference in how to title a post. Yours is titled wrong. This is not "Big Restaurant News" this is "Big Hilton Head News". The difference? It only is of interest to people who know or go to Hilton Head, so it would be nice to include Hilton Head in the title. Then the thousands of people who could care less about Hilton Head wouldn't be clicking on this post to find something they don't care about.

And before somebody says I'm being rude and if I don't like it, don't read it. You're totally missing the point if that's what you think. Am I having a bad day? No, I'm just offering a polite suggestion how this forum can work better for everyone.

I agree that the title could have been better. Many times I read things (like this - I don't plan to go to HH) that I find no interest in, and other times, due to vague or misleading titles, I skip over things that I later find I find interesting, or could have offered advice.

I feared "big restaurant news" was going to be another Chi-Chi's-Hepatitis store, or similar. It *IS* good news, "Golf-guy" - to those who vacation in Hilton Head.

Hear, hear! This little tidbit is not only NOT of interest to anyone who doesn't have Hilton Head travel plans (and I assure you I'll never go there even once in my life), if you don't know the people concerned you couldn't care less if you tried. It sounds more like country club gossip more than anything that 99.994% of the people on this Forum would be interested by. Sorry, but that's the truth.

You're all right. I was wrong. I know better but I did it in a hurry. I know that selecting South Carolina and then putting up a post still puts it on the whole US board, but my brain didn't make that connection.
Better title would have been
Hilton Head: restaurant information: Charlie's is moving.

I promise I'll take a moment to think next time.

Darn. I'm usually so good about this stuff, too.

jor, you may be right, but to my knowledge when I use the word anal it is always in reference to myself. "I'm totally anal when it comes to planning", that sort of thing.

And jor, I don't believe I have ever criticized you except for commenting on your rudeness!!! Quote me a thread and let's see who criticized who.

By the way, jor, did you actually read my post above. And you still call it "criticizing"?

By the way, jor, I thought we called peace back about the time of registration. Meanwhile I just clicked your name and looked at your last 50 most recent posts and can't find where I made any comments at all. Did you just get tired of not attacking me and couldn't hold out any more? Why would you say "my most recent post was criticized by Patrick". Care to try to prove yourself?

Ok, never mind. I guess I found what you're talking about on one of those Freaky Friday threads. Yes, I did say that anyone who worries about and/or criticizes which time zone is referred to in a news article either has too much time on his hands or is overly anal. I'm thinking about it, and I'll still stand by my point. As I said in that thread, you made your critical statement and asked for comments. That was mine.
