Some things to remember before bidding...if your travel dates are inflexible, you must check the hotel availability FIRST, before bidding,. to make sure they have room when you want to go. If your bid is accepted, it's yours regardless. Also, double check the value of the package and make sure you don't overbid.

Good luck~

true, true. Traveling off-season is the way to go with these auctions. Also, read the small print. Most are Th-Sun or Mon-Th, etc. Call them about the dates in question before bidding. I called one place...the end date was a week before my travel date. It was still "off season". They assured me that they would take my reservation. That was the Grape Leaf Inn in Healdsburg. They put us in one of their finest rooms and were wonderful to us! We bought the auction at www.generousadventures.com a great company who gives the profits to charities. We also won a bid on luxurylink for the Brewery Gulch Inn in Mendocino, which was just fabulous. We took the trip in April. I had great success with both companies.

We won a best shot auction at Luxurylink. I called the hotel to make sure the room was available and then called LL to get an idea of how much to bid. I bid my best shot at $20 over asking price and won. We stayed at the Ocean Key Resort in Key West and had a fabulous time! I check this site first before planning a trip.

I have never heard of generous adventures. I will check them out too.

I also used luxurylink.com this year for a trip to Jamaica Inn.

No problems at all. Very smooth transaction and I will use them again.

I bid and won a best shot auction for the Hotel Raphael in Paris. With a couple hours left, I called the hotel to make sure that they had availability for the dates I wanted to be in Paris, and when they confirmed that they had many rooms available that far in advance, I bid at luxurylink.com and won.

It was wonderful, and the hotel was very used to dealing with luxurylink travellers. Excellent price for a wonderful hotel.
