BI Kohala Coast Beaches
What is the best way to spend time in this area without paying big Resort Prices. We are spending our first 4 nights at the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort, followed by two nights at the Kilauea Lodge. The last two nights still need to be booked (fri and sat in May) before departing on Sun. We are considering a Resort but the costs are adding up fast and we find that we dont need all the amenities that resorts offer. We want to spend our last two days relaxing at the beach.

The Hapuna Prince resort is right on Hapuna beach, a beautiful white sand beach. Rates run about $220 for a terrace view room with breakfast on their website right now. If you want something less expensive, you could stay in a hotel in Kona (Royal Kona Resort maybe) and drive to the beach for the day.

Hapuna Prince and Mauna Kea are running anniversary deals for this summer. They are on the most beautiful beaches in the region. Go for it! I sure would if I was able to go this summer. We have a VERY similar trip planned for summer 2006... I don't mind changing properties in order to enjoy different parts of the island, and I think two days on the Hilo side are a great idea.

You can get the Hapuna on Priceline for about 165/nt if there are just two of you traveling. I wouldn't bid less than that because you may end up with the Hilton. If either hotel is okay in the end then I would suggest using Priceline. All the Hapuna's rooms have at least a partial ocean view.

We got a room at the Hilton Waikaloa on Priceline for $125 per night. For that price we will love it no matter what. Does anyone know about the mandatory resort fees are for this hotel? Just want to be prepared. Thanks
