Beware Albuquerque B&B
We recently booked six nights at La Hacienda Grande B&B with a credit card over the phone. AAA rated it 3 diamond and the webpage looks very good. Upon arrival we knew this place was not at all suitable for us, so we ended up staying at the Hampton Inn in Albuquerque which would rate 6 diamond in comparison. The webpage, www.lahacienda.com, is very misleading and AAA needs to reevaluate the La Hacienda Grande. The Owner charged our credit card for one night and told us she would also be charging a $25 cancellation fee. These specifics come to mind: 1. located amongst mobile homes, and the owners live in the mobile home next to it, 2.the courtyard was dirt and not the landscaping shown on the website or the brochure, 3. a roll of toilet paper next to the guest phone. This was a first for us and we shall no longer stay at a B&B without references.

After reading that exciting review, I just had to see the website. Looks great. Thanks for the real story! Hope this is the correct URL:

You mentioned AAA. If you're a member, you may have some luck getting your money back by going through them with your complaint. I've only had one experience where the actual property did not match their description of it and they were helpful in obtaining a rapid refund for me.

Well, since we are dumping on Albuquerque, let me add my opinion of renting a car at the airport - don't.
I'm going there next week. The cost of
the car is $41 a day for an 8 day total of $328. Add to this **$109.98** in taxes and fees. Is this normal for other airports??
I'll be renting a 4 wheel drive vehicle, so I expected to pay more, but it will be a long time before Albuquerque gets my money again.

I've had problems with judging a property by the way it looks on the website as well--not so much in the U.S., but in Europe (Hotel Continental in Barcelona looked great on it's website and wasn't all that great in person.) Thank you for posting and letting us know about this--I hope others who have similar situations post as well. Website photos can be very deceiving!
