Sorry didn't read all the replies but sand pebbles inn on Moonstone is lovely, great location (and next door to the wonderful Seachest restaurant) we stayed 2 nights just before thanksgiving and lived it. We have also previously stayed at the Fog catcher, which is fine but not as nice as The Sand Pebbles in ( we had an upstairs corner room with a wonderful view of the ocean) .

Smeagol- Thank you but I think we are staying south now. Flying into LA then heading towards SanDiego area for about 4 nights and then up to the beaches near LA for about 4 nights. Any suggestions around those areas??

Well make sure you go to San Diego Zoo, absolutely brilliant! We stayed at the US grant in SD which we loved. Not sure how great that will be with children though.

Thanks I will check it out!! The zoo is on the list maybe the safari too bc I LOVE giraffes!! I hope we can get it all in...
