Best seafood inDC

Anniversary dinner in DC and need advice for seafood restaurant - have heard Blacksalt is quite good but just do not know the city. Staying at Hays-Adams - is taxi service in DC readily available if we need transportation for the evening?
Thank you.

You'll have no problems getting taxis to and from the Hay Adams.

Haven't been to Blacksalt but have friends who've raved about it. Kinkheads and DC Coast are another couple of choices worth investigating.

Enjoy your trip and happy anniversary!

If it's not too late...

I highly recommend The Oceanaire Seafood Room on F Street. Best Crab cakes anywhere.

Happy Anniversary!

U'll have no trouble getting a cab from the Hay Adams and Black Salt would call one for u 4 your return. It might take 10 minute wait or so from the time of the call. Black Salt is very good. It's located out of DC proper (downtown area) and is about a 15 minute cab ride.

I also like Kinkeads and that is much closer to your hotel--maybe a 10 minute walk. Most of the better restaurants will have seafood on their menus.
Enjoy DC

Another place that gets good reviews and serves sustainable seafood is Hook in Georgetown. Haven't been but have friends who really like it. Also supposed to have wonderful desserts

My family really loved the food at the Old Ebbitt on 15th near the White House. The oysters were was very fresh. The have something called an orca platter and it includes a chilled lobster. I also really enjoyed their crabcakes. The main dining room has cozy green velvet booths that might be nice for an anniversary dinner.

Hank's Oyster Bar has excellent seafood and creative variety on the menu. Hank's may not be romantic enough for an anniversary dinner.

There are plenty of crabcakes in the region better than Oceanaire -- although it is one of my favorite chains and a nice room. Not sure how the company's financial woes have affected them.

BlackSalt is awesome and DC Coast, which is more than a seafood place, has never disappointed.

Also, Pesce was great but it's been a while. I hear good things about Hook but have never been.
