hahaha.. me too! j/k I guess it aint as bad as all that, I just REALLY dislike the heat. Having to drive without touching your hot steering wheel is rough sometimes. lol. Maybe you're one of those ppl that moved here from a cold place so it doesn't affect you as much. I'm sure if I ever live anywhere where there's ice on my windows that I have to scrape off every morning, I'll be crying for my Tucson! So don't get offended by my remarks, I'm just bored here at work

Agree that NYC is the obvious choice - you get what you pay for!

Yep, ESPECIALLY if you have a rent controlled apartment on the UWS in a pre-war building with 2 BR and 2 baths - and you're paying less than $600 for it!

For me, the answer is northern CA, north of SF...ocean, mountains, moderate climate, redwood forest, seafood, and a world class city at your back door, what more could you want (besides house prices a normal person can afford Its heaven on earth... But as someone else pointed out, it depends on the person. Others love NY, to me living in any city is like being in jail! It all depends on who you are!

Starrsville - no even if you're paying $2500+ a month for a small one bedroom in a middle class building- or at least according to my newest neighbors.

As a native Wisconsinite, I can comment on two of the "podunk" towns: Sheboygan and Janesville. Two of my close friends are from each of those towns. While cost of living in those places is fantastic (in Sheboygan you can get a 3 bedroom, 2-bath home for $90,000), it's not always the most happening of places or the most scenic, in my opinion.
However, if you like small-town life, they're fine, clean, good-spirited towns. Sheboygan is 45 minutes away from Milwaukee while Janesville is about 35 minutes from Madison, Wis. I think Madison, my hometown, is a great mid-size town with all the nice parts of a small town -- local businesses, little crime -- but is more attractive and has more to do.

Manhatten or San Francisco.

I believe the marketplace would agree with me and a free market never lies. There's a reason you can buy a large place in the midwest for less than $250K: supply and DEMAND.

Definitely California.
Something for everybody out here, and good weather, too!

I live in Santa Fe, NM...a transplant from San Francisco. I would've been a permanent renter in the BA (condos sell for $400K; decent homes for $700K).

Here we just bought a brand-new 4BR 3BA home for $210K. Property tax is 0.5%.

Skiing is just 30-minutes away...we even get light snow in the winter. Lots of great eateries & galleries. If you need your "clubbin'" fix you can go down to Albuquerque--50 miles south.

We can't afford Cali anymore...but Santa Fe is a really cool place to live!

Hi!
If I could choose somewhere to live, I would live on Oahu! Preferably near Diamond Head! Out of the hustle & bustle of Waikiki, of course! But, not too far away. To do this I would have to do one thing-WIN THE LOTTERY! I don't mean a couple o' mil. I mean MANY o' mil! Because I would have to be able to bring my daughter(she is 26 & I don't wanna live that far away from her!)because she wants to live there, too.
I live in the Kansas City, MISSOURI area
& I have to tell ya-I wouldn't miss this weather for NOTHING!
What could be better than 70's-80's year round! They don't call it PARADISE for nothing, ya know!
Yup, that would be the place for me!
I'd miss the snow, you say? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
LOL!
ALOHA!
