Best Katmai day trip operator out of Homer?

My husband and I will be staying in Homer with the rest of his family on vacation at the beginning of July. The two of us plan to take a day bear viewing trip to Katmai. Have found several outfitters, was wondering if anyone had personal experience with any of them?

I had been told by several people that Rust's were the best operator, but they operate out of Anchorage. Emerald Air was also suggested, as well as Sasquatch Adventures. I have to admit- I'm leaning toward Sasquatch because the images of the bears are really good. And as a photographer that will always grab my attention!

Would be grateful for any advice- or even suggestions of other operators.

Happy New Year everyone!

Sorry I do not remeber the name of the company we used. The sea plane held six of us plus the pilot.
I believe they were based in Homer, down on the Spot. We tookoff from a small lake and landed near Katmai’s shoreline. Bears were on the beach when we landed. As a photographer, you have a breat day there.

See my comment on your "4 days" thread. Homer/Katmai might not be the best option. Have you already booked space in Homer?

Gardyloo- we have rented a house in Homer. It is refundable, I'd just need to find alternate lodging as well as things to do until we fly out on the 4th. No one but us wants to do any flightseeing other than what is scheduled on the cruise. And will people ranging from 17-80 there are quite a few challenges in finding things to do for all of us. Thanks for your input!
