Best in San Fran

I will be in San Francisco with my family for the weekend and am wondering what the top 5 or so things to see are. I also would love to know one or two of the best shopping areas to hit and a good restaurant for the evening. Thanks!

Kristen,

This is no joke. I experienced all of these things on my most recent trip to SF.

1. Dodging the homeless in front of the stores in Union Square
2. Taking in the smell of urine as you walk down the street in front of a 5 star hotel
3. Watching people use a fountain as a public toilet
4. Appreciating the silence in downtown San francisco after dark
5. Enjoying the frigid 60 degree weather in the middle of the summer.

Good restaurant in SF?
That's like asking where there is a good beach in the Caribbean.
Price range?
Cuisine?
Location?
The choices are too numerous.
Have you considered going to Zagat.com and looking over some of the popular choices, then narrowing it down a little?
Things to do:
Alcatraz
Nob Hill
Coit Tower
Golden Gate Park
Golden Gate Bridge
Fisherman's Wharf
Union Square (best shopping)
Sausalito
....just to scratch the surface.

xxx, are you a professional SF basher? So the city isn't perfect, don't put off everyone who posts here thinking of going there!

xxx,

For once why don't you have the guts to list your REAL name and REAL e-mail address. You're a coward and your feeble attempts to scare people away from San Francisco are pathetic.

Get a job in a side-show.

Kristen,

Pay no attention to xxx, he/she has been posting this same tired response to every San Francisco posting for ages.

San Francisco is a wonderful city and, as Kay pointed out, you can throw a rock in just about any direction and hit a good restaurant. Give us a little more info and we'll be happy to suggest places.
