Best hotel - Chattanooga, Tenn

My wife and I are going to Chattanooga in mid August. Please advise regarding which is the very best hotel in the city. Thank you.

I don't know of a really fancy hotel in Chattanooga. You may enjoy the Stone Fort Inn.

If you don't mind staying somewhere other than downtown, you may enjoy the Chanticleer on Lookout Mountain (overlooking Chattanooga - and several states)

My husband & I stayed at the Sheraton Read House in 2007. This hotel is a beautiful, historic building with a Civil War feel. Our bed felt as though we were sleeping on a cloud. Across the street is a 24-hour diner with good food & the most ornate cakes trucked in from Atlanta. Also, the store Unclaimed Baggage is one hour south of the city in Scottsboro, Alabama (GPS will help you find it). ENJOY!

I think 3* is the highest you'll find. We also liked the Read House. Good location in an historic setting.

We stayed at the Read House a few years ago and had a great experience. It's within walking distance of the Aquarium, several good restaurants, and the Chattanooga Lookouts' baseball stadium. If you have time I'd also recommend taking the short trip to the Chicamauga battlefield.

If you want something different, the Delta Queen paddlewheeler, which plied the rivers for the Delta Queen Steamship Company,is now docked in Chattanooga for use as a hotel. We haven't been on that boat but did a week on the Mississippi Queen and the Delta Queen Hotel seems to be replicating much of the charm of that cruise without leaving port. Their web site is www.deltaqueenhotel.com

We are going to Chattanooga in two weeks and are planning to stay on the Delta Queen. We have friends who stayed there and thought it was great. They said it has the feel of a Bed and Breakfast(breakfast is included) and is within walking distance of downtown activities. I will post a review after our trip.

Is the Stone Fort Inn in downtown Chattanooga? Near the highway? A good place to stay on a north to south road trip? Thanks

Don't stay at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. It is a 1*. Is the Chattanoogan Hotel still there? We stayed at the Chattanoogan for a wedding a few years ago and it seemed to be one of the nicest hotels in Chattanooga.

I have relatives who live down the street from the Chanticleer. It's a nice inn but it's not downtown or on the interstate.
