Best fair to NY from LAX?

Hello!

I am planning on going to New York 5/26/03-6/01/03. I am willing to fly into LGA or JFK. Anyone know what airline has the best fare? I have been checking around.

American Airlines and JetBlue go head to head, LongBeach to JFK.But ya nevah know.Could change daily or not ever.Just have to check often.I sat next to a VP with United a few months ago on a NY-LA flight. He said most airlines typically "load" low fares into their computer systems between 8pmSaturday and 6am Sunday. They may not actually announce the fare until midweek. But the fare is actually in the system by early Sunday morning.I have often found that to be the case.

Don't limit yourself to just NY airports, try for Newark also. Prices can sometimes be better and the ride into the city is basically the same.
We would use Continental to fly to LA, they might have good fares from LA. Good luck!

Just checked on Travelocity.com The best fare is $273 round trip American, Delta, America West, and United for LGA and JFK

Spirit has a $233 round trip fare if you can travel on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday.

Also check the individual airline websites as well.

If you can get to Long Beach (LGB), American has a nonstop to JFK that's priced at $217 round-trip on travelocity.com.

If you can handle Islip, you might be able to get a good fare on Southwest. I got $94 each way for July.

If you don't mind the 90min drive upstate, Interstate Jet (I-Jet) just added flights out of Stewart (Newburgh, NY--SWF) to LAX for $99 each way.

Try for a RT on proceline for $200. Ive gotten fares that low through them. (FYI, Newark is definitely more convenient to Manhattan than JFK but LaGuardia is the most convenient of them all)

Have done both Jet Blue and AA out of Long Beach...both are very nice airlines, better than the standard carriers. Jet Blue with leather seats and individual tv's and AA with the additional legroom. You can't go wrong with either. Go with whomever has the lowest price for your dates. Good Luck!

If the price and schedule are similar or even close, there is no choice for me but Jet Blue. I can't say enough good things about flying with them. I am taking them to FL in August.
