Best Broadway Shows for kids

I have two kids (ages 10-boy, and 14-girl). We want to see a Broadway show while in NY this Christmas. We love Phantom and even bought the movie and have practically worn it out. I'm wondering if it would be a better idea to see something new. Would Wicked be appropriate and entertaining for them? Any other suggestions? Where can I get the tickets online the cheapest?

Lion King or Beauty and the Beast would be great for the kids. I havent seen Wicked yet so I can't comment on that one, but I really want to go. Try www.broadwaybox.com for discount tickets.

I just bought tickets yesterday for Wicked and Spamalot...had to wait for a Wednesday matinee in Feb. for the really good seats. You can get tickets at Ticketmaster/Telecharge for those shows.

I would suggest Phantom (you may be able to get 1/2 price at TKTS for that even at Christmas) or Lion King. I think Beauty is too juvenille. My kids also liked Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (saw it in London so it could be a little different in NYC) and Momma Mia.

Good Luck....it's busy Christmas week

They would love Hairspray and so would you. My son, who isn't big on theater just loved it, and my daughter saw it twice (at about the same ages as your kids).

I doubt you'll get discounts to anything Christmas time but you can check broadwaybox.com, theatermania.com, playbill.com, hitshowclub.com. These sites for the most part all offer the same or similar discounts. Popular shows like Wicked, spamelot and Lion King are never discounted and you need to buy tickets well in advance.

I suggest you buy your tickets asap.
