Best 1-Bedroom Suite around LAX but close to beach

I posted about this previously, but we decided we would rather be near the beach and just take a taxi to and from the hotel.

We fly into LA in early January (no longer 12/31) and leave the next day in the evening for a 13-hour flight. We have a 13-month-old daughter and we decided we'd like to be near the beach so that we can tire her out properly, so that she sleeps on the 13-hour flight!

Any recommendations? If at all possible, we'd prefer something with a 1-bedroom suite for $150 or under.

Thanks for any suggestions! I was looking at the Residence Inn Manhattan Beach but apparently it's not within walking distance of the beach?

Closer to LAX... beach... sounds like you need Santa Monica. try the Georgian or the .. or the Best Western that is just down from them.

I don't think your price range is realistic for wanting to be close to the water. I live on the central coast and have priced Santa Monica hotels for the past few years just for fun. Even mid-week is pricey.

Hopefully you'll get some other opinions.

Good luck!

Santa Monica is a rather expensive taxi ride from LAX.

Much closer, but in the opposite direction, is Manhattan Beach. A taxi to MB is about $18 (without tip); the return to LAX is a few dollars less because of a fee that only applies to fares originating at the airport.

Try the Sea View Inn which is just 3 blocks from the beach:

There are restaurants and a small grocery store within walking distance.

The Sea View Inn in Manhattan Beach is just what you are looking for.

It's in your price range and has ocean views, as well as being just up the street from the beach.

Thanks Jean, same to you.
(did you find out what you were quoted about in the LA 2009 guide book?) Mine turned out to be HB/MB.

Happy New Year!

Mine was about Griffith Park of all places/things. I grew up near the park and spent a lot of time there as a kid so I suppose it shouldn't be so surprising.
