bennie/bennnieIt's a small Fodor World--we live in the same town

To those of you who live in large cities/towns, this may not seem odd but our town has less than 4000 people (give or take a few).

bennie/bennnie:
When I read the FFR&R thread I recognized our town from your rant and rave. Did you actually see Liz with her hair dyed purple? Too funny. I read this board all the time but post infrequently because I don't travel all that much.

OHOH - I'm busted.

Eva - this is amazing. I'm trying to figure out if I know you by your other threads. We'll have to have a GTG. Are you going to the auction?

Isn't Liz wonderful. She's what makes that school special. She sets the tone, makes everyone feel welcome and special. Very response. I didn't see her with the purple hair but I saw her the next day - she was quite happy to see it gone.

To anyone following along - Liz is the principal of the local elementary school. Our kids just raised a significant amount of money for Tsunami relief.

I read and post way too frequently. I'm getting a rep in town for always putting together the best weekends away and trips. Now you know the secret to my success. ;-)

Bennie, you probably would know me by face if anything. My daughter is in 8th grade now but we have probably seen each other picking up in the cafe at some point or elsewhere in the 'hood.

As if this wasn't odd enough for one day, a friend suggested we try out a new restaurant in Haverhill and upon being seated find out it is an old friend from high school and former roommate from my years in San Francisco who owns and runs the place.(wow, that's a run-on)

FYI it is called "George" and is on Washington St. and the food is wonderful.

All in all a very strange (in a good way) Friday. Cheers, Eva

Eva -I guess you really did have a Freaky Friday.

What kind of food does this new restaurant have? My dh and I are always on the lookout for good places. Still waiting for the Park Lunch to reopen and am hoping that it will be as good as it was before.

Ate at the American BBQ in Rowely the other day - its great bbq like you would find in Memphis.

Bennie--
Sorry to reply so late. Busy week. Right now I am using the "delay" to play on the computer (since I was already up, showered and had a cup of coffee already in my system).

I will be spending more time on this site in preparation (fingers crossed) for a trip to Hawaii. So much to research (and so much $$$).

Funny how I am now aware that someone from this board could croos paths with me in the Foodmart!

Th restaurant I spoke of has food that is similar to the "Black Cow." Really small place with only 9 tables and maybe that many seats at the bar. I didn't even know there was a barbecue restaurant in the area but I don't eat meat so that might explain why.

Did you mention in an earlier thread that you were heading to NY this month. We are headed there for Feb. vacation. I am thrilled that "The Gates will be there during this time. Should be interesting.
Cheerio! Eva

Hi Eva - I know what you mean abouthte food mart. I was there the other day and was wondering "is anyone here Eva?" Maybe one day we'll figure it out.

That's great that you are going to see the Gates - saw the publicity on tv this morning. It looks very interesting. Are you driving down? Let me know if you need any planning assistance. I go often enough that I might be of assistance.

Thanks for the offer of help but I lived in NYC for 3 years and go back and forth as often as I can. Staying at The Belvedere this time_ I have heard decent things about the place and it is 2 blocks from one of my best friend's apartment.

Too funny-- my rave about the 2 hour delay is your rant!

Have a good weekend. Eva
