Benbow Inn - Garberville vs. Ferndale

Any recent reviews of the Benbow? We might not be able to get to Ferndale for the night (from the Bay area), due to a late start that day. This seemed like a logical place to stop if it's getting late & we'd like to see the Avenue of the Giants the next day, before heading onwards to see Ferndale a bit & Trinidad, for hiking. Is it worth it to "push it" to get to Ferndale? Or just save Ferndale for a lunch/& a couple of hours visit? Input appreciated!

IMO Benbow Inn is overpriced--
It is a nice place and has been refurbished recently. It is an "older"property and is on the river..does have a great golf course across the road....If I decided to stay for the ambiance I always want to check in by 4 PM --to get my moneys worth!!!!!
If just for a nice place place to "sleep"
I'd stay in the Best Western in Garberville. Several good breakfast places near BW.
You will really enjoy the Redwoods

Hi R

Benbow is about 4 miles South of Garberville. 101 from Benbow to Ferndale is a two lane freeway it will take about an hour to get from Benbow to Ferndale. The Avenue of the Giants is between Garberville and Ferndale so if you went to Ferndale you would have to back track. Morning in the redwoods is always nice. I would stop in Benbow / Garberville for the night.

Have Fun

My husband and I love the Benbow Inn. We were last there a year ago. Request a corner room overlooking the courtyard creek area. We have had some great dinners in the beautiful dining room.
Enjoy!
