Beaufort, South Carolina vs. Charleston

I am having difficulty booking three consecutive nights in Charleston because of an event on the third day of our stay. Would it be a good alternative to spend two nights in Charleston and the third night in Beaufort?

Where are you going afterwards? I'd go on to Savannah or stay for a night on the beach, but Beaufort will work.

We will be on our way to Savannah. Would Hilton Head be more fun that Beaufort?

I'd rather go on to Savannah, but that's my personal preference.

We've stayed in Charleston, then down to Savannah, then back to Beaufort and then flew home from Charleston. I loved Beaufort. Seems to be Beaufort and Hilton Head are apples and oranges.

I think maybe a night on the ocean would be a good change of pace after spending a couple weeks time in gardens, historic towns, etc.

A night on the ocean is always a good idea.

Have you seen Hunting Island? It's a state park just below Beaufort. Beautiful undeveloped unspoiled beach and very affordable, albeit rudimentary, cabins. It's one of myfavorite places in SC.

Hunting Island State Park indeed is beautiful! Also, it is 17 miles from Beaufort so you could combine the two. I love the oak trees draped with moss in Beaufort. Awesome.

Folley beach near Charleston could also be an option.
