beach sand for science fair

Message: My 3rd grade daughter in Oklahoma is doing a science fair project on beach sands of the world. If anyone out there would be willing to send a sample of beach sand from a florida beach we would be so grateful.

Does anyone have a contact name of a hotel person or a person living on the beach that we could maybe mail an addressed envelope with a collection bag to? This is a strange request but you never know who might be out there and willing to help. Please let us know.

There are many marine science facilities that might be willing to help out. You should google them. In my area, there's the Clearwater MArine Science Center, the Florida Institute of Oceanography, the MOte Marine LAboratory. Other than that, I don't know too many people who would want their address posted on this website.

You might also try the US Geological Survey office in St. Petersburg. And the Marine Mammal office, also in St. Petersburg.

I am in Fla. now and would be willing to send some sand. How much do you need and where does it have to go? I am not willing to provide an address to post here but would be happy to mail something there.
