Barbary Coast in Las Vegas.

Has anyone stayed in the Barbary Coast hotel/casino in Las Vegas?
The location seems great. Would love to get your impressions.
Also - which show simply shouldn't be missed?

I've stayed at BC a couple of times. My room was nice and had a good view of the Bellagio fountains. The hotel is not as nice as many others on the strip in terms of amenities, etc., but it's in a great location. IMO it's in between the major resorts and the places like Casino Royale, Imperial Palace, etc. If the price was right, I would stay there again.

We really enjoyed Mystere. More so than Sigfried & Roy and Blue Man Group.

Barbary is a bare bones hotel with great prices and a great location. *(NB: No pool.)

That being said, I think the Barbary is a great to gamble, but not a place for staying. I would much rather stay at a place with a pool, and more ammenities.

If you don't want to go that much higher in price, try Flamingo, Ballys, or Harrahs. They are nearby and they have a bit more "hotel" for the price.

Show now to be missed: O or Mystere. Take your pick. If you are a Prince fan, see Purple Reign at the Boardwalk.

Thank you both!
I am wondering... if the non existance of a swimming pool does not disturb me, and I am really only looking for a nice room, on a good location and not too much walking from the sidewalk to the room and the price is right (it is $69),
would you consider staying in the Barbary Coast?

I definitely would. But it depends on what else you can get for that price or close to it. There's nothing wrong with the BC, but as Darvy said, the other hotels offer more in the way of amenities. If you don't care about amenities, and the price is right, then go for it. The location is good enough that you can spend all your time elsewhere if you want.

Thanks, Jason. Your comments are very helpful.
I am just wondering where would you have preferred to stay. Last time we stayed in NY NY and didn't like it at all. The room was gloomy, the staff was rude and it took us more than 10 minutes each time to reach the room.

We always spend a lot of time gambling at the BC...its a popular hangout for the locals....the drinks are cheap and its a fun place to gamble....I would stay at Ballys or Harrahs thou over the BC.

Stayed at Paris last week for $69.00 a night but your right. It's a long walk to the rooms from the sidewalk.
Don't miss show---O.
Good luck.

I have bad knees and this is one of the reasons I stay at the B.C. whenever possible. It is such a great location! It's easy to manuver around the casino, easy to find people when you're looking for them, it has a great coffee shop with good chinese food (and American food as well). The people are very friendly as well. I always request a room not too far from the elevator as well. It is not fancy but the rooms are fairly large and clean. If you want something upscale and fancy this isn't for you, but I personally love it. It has one of the finest restaurants in all of Las Vegas inside, called Michael's. It is very elegant with a price tag to match but the food is to die for (many famous celebrities dine here)!! I'd suggest you try B.C.! I can't recommend any shows, all I do is gamble!

I really enjoy the Barbary Coast! Like others have said, it isn't anything fancy and doesn't have the ammentities of the new hotels BUT it is such a convenient location for walking everywhere. I normally go to LV with a group of about 6 and it's so nice being in a casino where you can actually find the people you came with. The other casinos are just too damn big. The restaurant is open 24 hours and the food is great (and the prices are very reasonable as well). It is a bit shop worn but I like the coziness. The rooms are decent size and many have nice views.

You convinced me that the Barbary Coast will suit us just fine. Thank you for helping me make the decision.

Ah, this bring back wonderful memories. The first New Years Eve I ever spent in Las Vegas 16 years ago was at the B.C. We had a great room and the location is 2nd to none! AA, you'll do just fine there. Eat at the restaurant right next to the check in counter, the food is great. If you make a BIG score....go to Michaels for the best food and service in your life. There's beautiful stain glass through the entire building. B.C. gives you a real "welcome" feeling unlike the mega casinos they have since built.
