Bar Harbor in July/Aug with kidz
Any suggestions about a trip to BOston/Maine and would be willing to explore areas within close proximity. Want to make this a special trip as we send our oldest off to college in August 05. Anyone stayed at the Harborside in bar Harbor???
would appreciate things to do, lodging, restaurant ideas, etac. as well as side trip between boston and Arcadia.... thanks

In between Boston & Bar Harbor, you could stop at pretty coastal areas of Marblehead & Glouster, MA (setting of The Perfect Storm) check out Historic sites around Portsmouth, NH...shopping at LL Bean & other outlets in Freeport, ME Drive the scenic route up the coast of Maine to Bar Harbor. Stop for Lobster Rolls for lunch along the way. At Acadia, hike or bike on the carriage paths in the park, check out the view at Cadillac Mountain, Tea & Popovers at Jordan Pond (essential). Pizza at Geddy's in BH, Go on a guided tour in ocean kayaks to check out the marine wildlife & birds. Lots to do!

Hi Millsy5, We stayed at the Cadillac Motor Lodge in Bar Harbor. We found it to be a clean, economical place to stay with a good location at the lower end of Main Street. We were able to walk to most of the restaurants and shops in town. It's not fancy, but has a great little place across the street for breakfast & awesome blueberry pancakes. I've also stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort there, but it was just average, and further from town.
The drive from Boston to Bar Harbor isn't that far (4-5 hours), so we drove it in 1 day with a couple stops.
