Maine in Sptember

My husband and I are driving from Boston up thru Maine in Sept. We are staying in a fab B&B in Kinnebunk, a resort in Camden and BarHarbor Inn. Then driving back to Boston to fly home (Dallas). Any suggestions for great restaurants (dives or nice)?
Are there any " must sees"? Shops? Antiques or other? Best way to see Arcadia NP? We will be driving, not hikers. Thanks

if you're in bar harbor for a couple days (you're going to love the inn - if you have any specific questions fodor poster 'poss' just returned from there and will answer q's) try to go over to schoodic point. it's part of the park but not on the island. there is a oneway scenic drive with numerous small pull outs and one big one at the point. huge boulders you can walk around on, waves crashing - very beautiful & dramatic. take a lunch with you as there is no food available.
i like the owl's head lighthouse.
you want to look for lobster someplace where the boats come in to drop the catch. usually just some picnic tables. you get the lobster, a baker, slaw & roll. there are loads of non-chain lobster places all up & down the coast.

In Camden, take the auto road to the top of Mt Battie for a great view overlooking the harbor. Great place to picnic (we bring bag chairs). Nice wine tasting at Cellar Door Winery in nearby Lincolnville. I also love the view from Owl's Head Light. Go to Waterman's Beach for a great lobster dinner at a picnic table by the water. (no frills) On the way to or from Bar Harbor if you're in Stockton Springs at meal time stop in Just Barb's on Rt 1 (between Ellsworth and Camden). There's also a huge former chicken coop that contains used books on one floor and antiques on the ground floor. Also on the way to Ellsworth. If you are there the 3rd weekend in Sept, check out the Common Ground Fair in Unity (maybe an hour or less from Camden) - all about organic farming with some beautiful handcrafts. The shopping in Camden area is very nice.

here's a new thread just today -
http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...1&tid=35009742

just in case you don't see it - they were in the same places you are interested in. ALso, don't forget to use the 'search this forum' bar in the top and put in each destination at a time and see the threads that pop up - put in thing slike "Kennebunk restaurants", "Maine restaurants" "Acadia" and see what pops up from past trip reports too !

Have fun

You have to have dinner at Francine Bistro, it is amazing. It is on Chestnut Street in Camden, but make a reservation, they are always busy. It's not a touristy lobster seafood place, it's innovative, unique, gresh and delicious.
