Best recommendation for Fenway - eat before you go! But actually, starting a year or 2 ago they closed off Yawkey Way for additional food vendors before and during game - these seem far better than actual inside-the-park food (although area is only opened to ticket customer). Area seems like a down-trodden crowded version of food vendors outside Camden Yards (if you have ever been there).

Unfortunately, we have never been able to buy anything from these guys since it was so crowded in this area one could hardly move.

The only thing I can say about both Shea and Yankee Stadiums is to take along lots and lots of cash! The food is expensive and well, underwhelming to say the least. But if you drink lots of beer, you won't care or notice.

The food at Shea Stadium is truly awful. But before the game there are great ethnic eateries along Roosevelt Avenue, not too far away.

Before Yankee games, if you are driving, the best idea is to have a meal at one of the restaurants in the Arthur Avenue area. They are very crowded on game evenings so leave plenty of time. If you are going by train to the Stadium and do not want to eat inside, you have a couple of decent choices. Many people like the Court Deli, near the courthouse; I prefer The Feeding Tree, a friendly and inexpensive West Indian place on Gerard Avenue. We always eat beforehand, rather than inside.

I love going to Shea Stadium because it's a good excuse to eat in Flushing. Shea is on the #7 subway line (Willets Point stop). The next and last stop is Main Street, Flushing. That area is right in the middle of really good oriental restaurants and you have dozens of restaurants to choose from.

Ekscrunchy. Thank you for mentioning The Feeding Tree. It looks pretty good. I think I'll try it after a Saturday afternoon game.

About a 10 minute walk from Fenway is Peterborough Street. There are multiple, inexpensive, ethnic restaurants and you can sit outside if you like. It isn't usually over-crowded because most of the crowd goes to places next to the ball park.

The food at Yankee Stadium is universally ghastly - and you have to stand on line forever to get it.

If time allows eat before or after.

Bunkhedena: The people at the Feeding Tree are really friendly. They have different kinds of Jamaican fruit drinks and some good chicken dishes along with meat and everything else. Give it a try! And thanks for the tip about Flushing. Newspaper would be more tasty than those dogs at Shea.

None of those parks have great food. They are ball parks?!?!?

The Yawkey Way area in Fenway is crowded, but if you go to the area behind the right field bleachers, there is plenty of room and decent food.

tburke- I agree with plenty of room part, but decent food? We will have to agree to disagree on that one - eat before you go to game!

We got some good things outside Fenway in the area already designated.

I know some ball parks with great food, and I don't understand why more of them don't let some decent choices "in" if they have the room. I'm sure Fenway doesn't have proper room for it.

But you don't need a huge variety, but just some awesome few things done well.
I can think of 4 or 5 places that have terrific food now. I love the steak sandwiches at U.S. Cellular.

None of the food anywhere is cheap.
