ball of string?
Somewhere I passed a post of the "world's largest ball of string" - I think it was South or North Dakota, Wyoming, or Colorado???
Anyone know where this is? If it is not far out of my way next year, I would stop "just to say I did...! "

Thanks everybody.
Nope - not going to go "out of my way" specifically for a ball of string (ha, ha). I will be enroute to Colorado from Ontario Canada & it is pretty much ON my way.
&, yes, I agree - it will just be one of those "silly photos" that make your album fun for others to look at...
Isn't that what vacations are all about? Seeing all the dumb stuff along with the good? (ha, ha)
Speaking of silly things to take pictures of.....
For a Canadian - I was so tempted in Alabama a year ago to stop and take a picture of dead armadillos alongside the road (upside down with their little feet stuck straight up in the air - not "crushed")
because I had never seen an armadillo before (dead or alive) & thought it was the funniest thing...
Now wish I HAD stopped that year because I didn't see any at all this time around when passing through the southern states on my return from Texas / Louisiana.
Great discussions on this Fodors...

My family and I visited the largest ball of twine in Cawker City ,Kansas in 1997.
We did drive out of our way, but we passed through beautiful Kansas countryside.
The ball is next to the hiway under a roofed enclosure, unattended and always open.We were the biggest attraction in Cawlker City that day as carloads of teenagers drove past us several times(it's a small town).
We still talk about the experience,we're glad we went.
