Balboa Park Inn?

I've read a lot about not staying in Mission Valley, but does anyone know anything about Balboa Park Inn? I know it is across from the zoo. What else is in the area? Any recommendations for lodging in the $100 to $130 brackett would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Well, I hope it is okay because I just booked a room for the 28th of this month.

It has pretty decent reviews on tripadvisor and was recommended on this board by a member once that I know of. You can go read those reviews on tripadvisor.com if you haven't already, if no one responds.

I've stayed there and would say its just okay. I personally like Park Manor Suites better and think it has a better location.

I don't think the Balboa Park Inn has off-street parking.

There are some decent hotels in Mission Valley and there's no reason to avoid that area. Some people just get a bit snobby about it because there are no five star resorts there. Yes, the freeway runs through it, but having stayed in a room facing the freeway during the fires last October, I can assure you it's not a big deal. We didn't hear it at all. There is easy access to everywhere, the Zoo, downtown, Embarcadero, Sea World, Old Town, shopping at Fashion Valley mall.

We have stayed there 4 times. The rooms are each different in regards to furniture and kitchens. It is quiet and clean, close to the freeways, free breakfast,(fruit, pastry, cereal) across from Balboa Park/San Diego zoo.
It is best to call the toll free number to reserve.
Yes, parking on the street past 8pm can be a challenge, but usually there is parking within 2 block radius. We feel safe in this neighborhood of single homes.
A short drive to University Ave has restaurants, grocery stores, etc.
They have a website balboaparkinn.com.
