Bachelor party location ideas??

Planning a bachelor party for sometime in Aug-Oct '05, and just wanted to poll for some ideas where to go for a 2-3 night trip. The requisites are:

- Gambling
- Golf
- Warmth
- Resort Hotel
- Accomodating to east and west coasters

Ok, I know Vegas covers all these, but was hoping for something different. Arizona? New Orleans? It doesn't have to be in U.S. either. Caribbean would be ideal, but it's usually inconvenient and pricey for the west coasters (although it's mostly east folk), and it's hurricane season.

Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks..

Let me give you an analogy from my undergraduate business school days. (It's a bit dated but makes the point.) Part of the reason IBM achieved their dominance in the computer industry through the 60's, 70s and 80's was that saying "But it was IBM" provided you with protection should your company experience computer problems. You buy a lesser known name and it doesn't work, you better have a good answer for why you didn't pick IBM.

That what's going on here. All the things you want scream VEGAS. But, you want something different. If something different fails to live up to expectations, you will immediately be called to task and be subject to the kind of riducle that only your close friends can subject you to for not going to Vegas.

If you go somewhere and it's not good, be ready for a lifetime of "Hey Sonny, tell me again why we didn't go to Vegas for that Bachelor party?"

Rick,
I understand your point, but we were in Vegas for a BP in October, will be going to another in April..so I was just looking for a possible alternative.

New Orleans might present a viable alternative.

Memphis/Tunica has golf, gambling, it will be warm and has great music and Elvis to boot. Within easy reach of both coasts.

(I'd still rather go to Vegas)

First choice is obviously Vegas, but how about San Diego County? There are plenty of top-flight golf courses, there are a couple of large Indian casinos, it will certainly be warm, you'll find great resorts, and it's easy to get to.

Not all of the choices will be equally as easy to reach from both coasts, but isn't that always going to be the case? Anyway, you also might consider the Bahama's and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Gambling is the catch for most places except Vegas. August in New Orleans?
If Mexico and/or the Caribbean are a possibility, I'd suggest you post on the appropriate boards here.

How about the Palm Springs, Palm Desert area? Great golfing and resorts. Very nice looking casino, maybe even 2. Warmth is a sure thing.

I think gambling is going to be the hardest to find, along with the rest of your list. Are there cruises that would have all that you want?

I love Palm Springs/Palm Dessert but you know what? It's going to be lacking in the nightlife and action that Vegas can provide.

Montreal....it's plenty warm in August. US vs Canadian dollar will offset any west coast cost liability (you said mostly east coasters). Golf? Not sure but there must be some. Gambling? Done. Resort Hotel? Who'll be spending time in the hotel in Montreal?

I'd suggest Tunica/Memphis also. Good golfing and casinos in Tunica. Beale St in Memphis is like New Orleans without the smell and the BBQ is world class. Plus if going to a Gent's club is a must Memphis has one of the best in the US, Platinum Plus.

We just had our bachelor parties as well (last year) - and we also happened to get married around the time of three other couple-friends, so encountered the same dilemma. I would suggest the Carribean. (Did New Orleans in August and was not impressed at all! Much too young of a crowd and August was sopping wet with humidity).

We also did Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and LOVED it. Has gambling, excellent golf courses including one that was designed by some famous golfer - don't kill me because I do not follow golf, so I think his name is Jack Nicholas? I forget. Anyway, beautiful beaches and wonderful rum and beer! Great people, nice atmosphere. Good luck. Have a blast and let us know where you end up.
