HELEN!
You seem to be having lots of problems in Miami you poor thing!
Avis is a little hard to find, but it is right on Collins Avenue just down the road from the Delano hotel.
If you were heading north on collins ave. it is on the left hand side, just before Collins turns into a 1 way street and splits off with Indian Creek rd.
Hope that helps

Helen,
Were you the one wanting restaurant info?
If so let me know what you like and what your budget is like and I will give you a list.
I'm not in the biz, just eat out and live in SOBE (south beach) and I love to help people, because SOBE can be a real RIPOFF if you don't know where to go.
PS - why are you renting a car there, why not get it at the airport?
If your planning on staying in south beach you wont need a car, everything is walk & cab
ALso Dollar rent a car at the airport typically has the best rates.

Thanks Richard - you've been a great help so far.
REF: collecting the car at the airport -We would be leaving our house in London at 3.00am your time - and with a nine hour flight - I'm not sure that I could cope with driving straight off the plane - that's why we are staying in South Beach for the first night of our holiday ( we're staying at South Beach for four days on our way back).
From there we are driving to St Augustine via Mount Dora - up to Cedar Key and round the rest of Florida.

Ok - I understand. Make sure you have a car reservation and keep the reservation ID written down. They have a bad habit of losing reservations and that time of the year, cars are hard to come by.
I'll e-mail you my restaurant list if you like.
South Beach is very inconsistent for restaurants, and there are a lot of rip offs. Also if you want a list of dance clubs I can e-mail that too.

What gives, Helen, Margaret, Susan, Penny, etc. You've started at leat 6-7 threads all about coming to Miami from the UK. Why not ask all questions in one thread? And what's with the different names? And how about that obsession with tiny & tinyworld? Did you really think us dumb Americans wouldn't figure this out???
