I'm not familiar with all of those, but I can tell you that AMLI, Great Hills and Balcones Club are definitely not in the ghetto. I've heard of Sorrento and I think it's OK too, but I'm not sure exactly where it is. If you can provide addresses, I can give you a bit more info.

OK, I googled Talavera and Sycamore Springs and they are both in NW Austin, which is good. But where will you be working? The reason I ask is because Austin traffic is so bad, you probably want to live somewhere near work.

Hey rockmeboi,

If you're not working with an apartment finder in Austin you're doing yourself an injustice. They find you what you need for free. Seriously, the apartment complexes pay their fee.

But, I'm sure we can help out too! Tell us what area you are looking at, and as PM said, where you will be working, and we'll help you out.

By the way, you will love Austin!!!

rockmeboi, you're not going to believe this, but just a few minutes ago I was driving home from the movies and I just happened to drive past Talavera. It looks like a very nice place, however there is massive road construction going on on Hwy 620, which is the road Talavera is on. I would like to believe that construction will be finished by Sept., but I'm not holding my breath.

I agree that an apartment locator service would be good.

AMLI, Sycamore and Talavera are faaaaaaaaaar North AUstin. Great Hills and Balcones are the most central, and Sorrento is a brand new complex of IH 35 between WM Cannon and Stassney, which is considered South Austin. Like someone else asked - in what part of AUstin will you be working?
