Atlantic City Help

We are going to the NJ shore for the month of October. Can someone suggest how to find the best casino "membership(s)". Not huge gamblers but would be interested in food discounts, free parking, show preferences, etc. Thanks

All of the casinos have these rewards programs.

My advice would be to play at either the Trump casinos or the Harrah's-owned properties because all of their casinos are "linked" together on one card. That way, if you visit more than one casino your comps will build up on one card.

This is particularly important for a small player who would not benefit from a small amount of play at several different casinos.

Good luck!

The comps at Trump are poor and have gotten poorer recently. I believe best comps are at Borgata, but it depends on your level of play.

You're not going to get any discounts until you generate some play history, unless you sign up for a promo that happens to be running at the time.

The Harrah's program is called Total Rewards and it is a good one. You start at the gold level. See:

In AC, the TR program would apply at Harrah's, Caesars, Bally's, and Showboat.

We went to Harrah's for a very enjoyable afternoon. A little warning-the TR cards must be ordered individually. We got 1, the great rep handed cards to my wife and I and told us to come back in 1/2 hour for a free buffet. When we returned hours later, an extremely rude rep informed us that we only get 1 buffet because the cards are both under my name and the buffet didn't open for another 1.5 hours! We had a great time, in a beautiful spot, broke even and got free parking. A great rainy afternoon. Thanks.

Good to hear you had a good trip.

I guess they assumed that you wanted to pool your points. The program has status tier: gold, platinum, diamond. Pooling your points would help to get you to a higher tier. No sense in both of a couple being platinum when together they can be diamond and get 2 free tickets, or two-for-one tickets, or a free room.

I know of one fodorite who uses his wife's card because her name is like a man's name. But from what you describe it sounds like they are ok with a couple sharing a card. Encouraging it, in fact.
