Atlanta Visit

My wife and I plan to attend a function in Atlanta near Five Points in late February. We might also try to take in a play or concert if we can. We could use some recommendations for a moderately priced hotel, restaurants, etc. It's not necessary that we stay at Five Points but we don't want to get too far out. Any ideas? Thanks!

There aren't any hotels near Five Points but it's very close to downtown and midtown. Also you can ride MARTA to Five Points if you stay near by. One of my favorite restaurants is The Vortex - the best burgers in town!

Are you referring to the Atlanta neighborhood of "Little Five Points" (which chubby is talking about) or the intersection in downtown Atlanta called "Five Points"?

If you are catching a show at the Fox you might want to check out Avra on Juniper Street a few blocks away. Its Greek food...moderately priced ie you can get out of there for under $100.

I don't see the fox mentioned at all but Mitra is next to Avra and has much better food.

Yes, the "Five Points" versus "Little Five Points" is a CRUCIAL determination. If the answer is Five Points, I wouldn't recommend staying anywhere around there. Just too much hassle. Stay in a different part of the city and use MARTA, a rental car, or cab to get to your event.

I have found this site helpful for hotel info, and you can ask questions that locals will answer

If your event is in Little Five, you'll find it's colorful and young. Feels like a college town---a little grubby, a little granola. But the actual Five Points neighborhood of Atlanta is squalid. You couldn't pay me to stay there.

A first time poster revives at least 5 posts in less than 20 minutes and gives the same link?

Could this be a commercial promotion?
