You can take Interstates all the way to Mobile Ala. (I85 and I65) or get off on US31 when you approach Mobile and take the secondary roads to the Gulf.
The only food advice I've got to offer is to stop at Wintzell's Oyster House in Greenville, Ala (just off I65) and have their chargrilled oysters. See if you can stop at a dozen.
