Woooooooohoooooooooooo!
Get your shopping shoes on! Just pricelined (09/16-09/18) and got the JW Marriott Hotel Buckhead for $65!
FYI, for those that are thinking of using priceline for the GTG...in June I got the Intercontinental for $65, in July the Grand Hyatt for $65 and now the JWM for $65...I always start lower (today at $59), but the jackpot chimes at $65.
Now that I have a great place to stay...I'm really excited!

So happy to see the great response for the Atlanta GTG. I was a bit downtrodden after the last attempt!! In any case, put us down for 2. We'll be there unless our newest addition shows up that day (am due a few days later!)
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi, guys! Just saw today's post about the GTG.
I wasn't sure if I'd be around to go to the GTG so that's why I haven't been able to give a firm answer about coming. But I think I'll be able to come now that I'm not working full time. And lunch at Maggiano's is very hard to say no to!
OWJ, I'll shoot you my RSVP shortly so you can have a sound headcount.
Just be advised that I can guarantee that I'm the least travelled person in this group! ;-)
I'll be on my own since my sweetie is not nearly as into travel as I am.

I2--We have 13 definate yes's (15 with samsaf as long as she doesn't have the baby) and about 6 maybes. There are some people who expressed an interest initially but haven't heard from them at all--if you are one of those busy Fodorites, do reconfirm, please
Atlswan--This is just a reason for people who love to travel and are curious about the world to get together--doesn't matter how many places you've visited. I'm so glad you're coming!

HA! I just read the posts this mornings. I think OWJ was confusing me with someone else. Samsaf is definitely NOT with child! My 21-, 18- and 16- year-old kids would be in shock. And now I'm going to go show my husband these posts for his joke of the day!

bamakelly, hope you drive over for the GTG too.
I just did a search for the corn casserole recipe - going to take it to a party tonight. Decided to cut and paste it here in case others are interested -

Sorry -- that was 30 minutes in above thread. I am queen of typos.
Here's another good recipe for Thanksgiving. My relatives BEG ME to make this and it is always completely gone when I serve it for dinner parties also. It is slightly sweet so it really is delicious.
Corn Casserole
1 can regular corn, drained
1 can creamed corn
1 stick butter
1 box Jiffy corn mix
8 oz sour cream
1 beaten egg
Melt butter. Add corns. Add muffin mix and egg and sour cream, stirring between each.
Mix well. Pour into 2 or 3 quart casserole dish. Bake at 375* for 45 minutes.

Preface: On Sept 19 I'm heading to Amsterdam to spend a week with my daughter before happily escorting her back to the States. She's completing her Peace Corps stint in Kenya (2 1/3 yrs!). I am thrilled. She will be living in a different state than I, but at least on the same continent!
Soooo...if you think you can tolerate how estactic I am going to be, I'm in for the GTG.
