I'd like to thank you all for your input, and let you know that I won my Priceline bid of $85/nt. for the Grand Hyatt - Buckhead.

Next stop, Tampa!

Thanks again.

The Grand Hyatt is gorgeous! Congratulations on a great price. I stayed there a few years ago on the club level...and I think they upgraded me because I showed them my Gold Passport card at check-in. If your husband is not a member, have him join before the trip.

The hotel also provided a complimentary shuttle to my event in the area. They delivered (and picked me up!) in a Town Car. Your hubby and son would ask for a ride to the MARTA station as they take the train down to the ballgame.

Congrats on winning a great bid. They probably would enjoy a day at Stone Mountain Park - but would need a rental car for that day.

starrsville, did you ask for an upgrade or did they just provide you with one?

Iregeo, I've stayed at the Grand Hyatt twice in the last couple of years and I can't remember for sure if the upgrade to the club level was during the PL visit or a paid (low rate) visit.

BUT, every time I've gone to NYC on PL, I've stayed at the Hilton and they've upgraded me every time to the Club level. Ditto for the Downtown Atlanta Hyatt. In any case...

I don't ask. At check-in, I hand them my cc, DL and the hotel frequent stay card. I'm virtually silent - just smile nicely, am not apologetic for the PL reservation and pretty much act like I'm staying there on business at the rack rate. I've always been treated extremely well. They've always given me points for incidentals charged and almost always I've gotten the club level upgrade. Rarely has the PL room been on the club level itself, but at the conclusion of check-in I'm handed the key card that indicates my club status.

The club level at the Grand Hyatt was so nice we had to tear ourselves away for the event. Beautiful room with fireplace, nice hors doerves, etc.

There's a funky fondue place nearby - Dante's Down the Hatch. An Atlanta institution. The "boys" might enjoy it.
