Congratulations on 30 years!
I'd do dinner at the Richmond Hill Inn.
Where are you staying?
Lots of restaurant recommendations on this board - so a search and see what matches your taste and budget.
I like to have drinks and appetizers in front of the huge fireplace at the Grove Park Inn. I'm not that big of a fan of their restaurants.

You did not mention the date of your anniversary. Here's another option that you might want to consider....
The Pisgah Inn, about 40 minutes away from Asheville, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a beautiful drive out there, and the dining room has fantastic views of the mountains stretching for miles and miles right outside their ceiling to floor windows.
The prices are very reasonable, wine is availabe, and I highly recommend the fresh brook trout in almond sauce.
For more information, you can go to this web site: http://www.pisgahinn.com/dining_and_...facilities.htm
They close on November 1st for the season. Go early, you may have to wait for a little while to be seated. You can browse their gift shop in the meantime, or sip a drink on the patio overlooking the mountains from a 5,000 foot elevation.
If you go, ENJOY! It is breathtaking.

You are absolutely right. Although the food at the Pisgah Inn is good, and the prices quite reasonable, I was thinking that the atmosphere of gazing out at the fantastic scenery would be quite romantic and might lead to hand-holding, snuggling, giggling and a nice view of the sun setting over the mountains.
Still, a visit to the Richmond Hill Inn could be a prelude to a nice stroll around Asheville and possibly taking in a show or movie that night.

Congratulations! I wouldn't recommend Pisgah Inn to celebrate 30th anniversary. It is more like a nice place to celebrat the ned of succesful backpacking trip. Great views, food is sometimes very good but sometimes it is so crappy that is not worthy to wait for it. Richmond Hill restaurant is a perfect place to celebrate a very spacial occasion. Menu, setting, service, food are all very sophisticated. I feel that there is no comparison between Pisgah Inn and Gabrielle's. It is like comparing Chevrolet with Jaguar. It is nothing wrong with the first one just they are not in the same class.
