Asheville Restaurants
Looking for good restaurant for wedding anniversary dinner, married 30 years?
|
Congratulations on 30 years!
I'd do dinner at the Richmond Hill Inn. Where are you staying? Lots of restaurant recommendations on this board - so a search and see what matches your taste and budget. I like to have drinks and appetizers in front of the huge fireplace at the Grove Park Inn. I'm not that big of a fan of their restaurants. |
I'll 2nd the recommendation for Richmond Hill Inn - make reservations as soon as possible. We go there 1x/year and have the special Chef's choice menu with wine pairings - awesome.
|
I'd definitely agree with Starrsville and Leah, Gabrielle's at Richmond Hill is wonderful. If for some reason it doesn't work, another option is Flying Frog at the Haywood Park Hotel. Not hugely romantic, but very good food.

You did not mention the date of your anniversary. Here's another option that you might want to consider....
The Pisgah Inn, about 40 minutes away from Asheville, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a beautiful drive out there, and the dining room has fantastic views of the mountains stretching for miles and miles right outside their ceiling to floor windows. The prices are very reasonable, wine is availabe, and I highly recommend the fresh brook trout in almond sauce. For more information, you can go to this web site: http://www.pisgahinn.com/dining_and_...facilities.htm They close on November 1st for the season. Go early, you may have to wait for a little while to be seated. You can browse their gift shop in the meantime, or sip a drink on the patio overlooking the mountains from a 5,000 foot elevation. If you go, ENJOY! It is breathtaking. |
While Pisgah Inn does have beautiful views the menu is nothing to compare with Richmond Hill - but it depends on your taste - and your wallet!

Leahinsc-
You are absolutely right. Although the food at the Pisgah Inn is good, and the prices quite reasonable, I was thinking that the atmosphere of gazing out at the fantastic scenery would be quite romantic and might lead to hand-holding, snuggling, giggling and a nice view of the sun setting over the mountains. Still, a visit to the Richmond Hill Inn could be a prelude to a nice stroll around Asheville and possibly taking in a show or movie that night. |
Congratulations! I wouldn't recommend Pisgah Inn to celebrate 30th anniversary. It is more like a nice place to celebrat the ned of succesful backpacking trip. Great views, food is sometimes very good but sometimes it is so crappy that is not worthy to wait for it. Richmond Hill restaurant is a perfect place to celebrate a very spacial occasion. Menu, setting, service, food are all very sophisticated. I feel that there is no comparison between Pisgah Inn and Gabrielle's. It is like comparing Chevrolet with Jaguar. It is nothing wrong with the first one just they are not in the same class.

I had lunch with my parents a few years ago at a Persian restaurant called Reza's, the food and wine were outstanding and the service was tremendous.
|
I've got mixed feelings about Rezaz's...but for an anniversary...too noisy and not intimate enough. I'd still vote for Gabrielle's followed by Horizon's at Richmond Hill and then maybe (and it's a big maybe) Savoy.
|
oops, I meant Horizon's at Grove Park Inn.
|
I loved the Savoy, thanks for telling me about it for my last trip, Leah. Great food, pretentous service, but all in all a good evening.
|
Just a week ago I had a dinner at Reza's. I always enjoy Mediterranean food but this was only OK. I would not recommend for a very special occasion maybe for a quick bite
