Area 51

Has anyone been there? Is it worth the drive?

Wilbur & I were almost there when they appeared from overhead. We were both transmogrified up into the spacecraft, where they did horrific experiments on us, poking in obscene places. The only good thing about the experience is that I can now talk, a feat never before accomplished, of course, of course.

That's great, Mr. Ed. But how do you manage to type on a computer keyboard with those hoofs?

Hold a stylus in my teeth.

I DID get correct what "Area 51" is, right? Is it now where there (alledgedly) was a spacecraft landing, or something like that?

Lisa - tell us more about what you know!

Personally, if you're going to drive, I prefer the road to Hana.

Area 51 is a SUPER secret government facility in the middle of the Nevada desert, so named because of old government maps. The alleged spacecraft landing took place several hundred kilometers away in Roswell, New Mexico.

What is at Area 51, and why does the government post signs that "Deadly Force" will be used against those who tresspass on this property? Speculation runs rampant.

You're free to travel to this out in the middle of nowhere area and see these signs. But that's about all you're going to see. If there is an alien space craft within the buildings, it's not yet on public display.

Lisa: We were in that area back in July,1996. It's about a 3 hr. drive directly north of Vegas. Go north on Rt.15 for about 25 miles or so & look for signs to get onto Rt.93 north. You will go north on Rt.93 for probably 80 miles until you get to Alamo & Ash Springs. Just about 5-10 miles above Ash Springs you will turn left onto Rt.375 (the Extraterrestrial Highway). You will go about 35 miles west to a small town of Rachel (Pop.- about 100). Just before Rachel there is a white mailbox with a road that goes to the left. That road eventually gets you towards Area 51. There are signs posted back on that road prohibiting entry or any photography. Also there are white Ford broncos sitting on the hilltops watching you & there are monitors set up to detect intruders. Further back this road there are signs posted signifying that they have authorization to shoot at you. Rachel is a VERY small community of mostly trailers, gas station, store, church & the infamous Al-E-Inn. It's a bar, restaurant, RV park & Inn all combined. Not a bad place if you like the odd & unusual. It's been said that this secret military base supposedly has UFO aircraft hidden there. I've even heard that there were actual ET's hidden there. It's an area where at night you supposedly can see UFO's flying around.

It is correct Area 51 is super top secret, but if you weant the UFO experience Roswell NM is worth the drive. The have a UFO museum there and the Wally world (Wal-Mart) and local restaurant really get into the Alien thing, we had alien tacos etc. While in the general vicinity visit Alamagordo Missle range, White Sands, and Carlsbad Caverns. We were snowed out of our Grand canyon visit but made the most of it.

Okay, the "white bronco" patrol thing is kind of freaky...isn't it? I mean, there MUST be something there?! It doesn't sound like it's a hoax to get you to the area to spend your money...it sounds like there's nothing there. (touristy, that is.)
