Can you swim in Scottsdale AZ in January? Or is it too cold?

Do the resorts, such as Hyatt, Marriott, etc keep their swimming pools open year round?

I was curious on this. We are looking for a getaway, but want to make sure the pools will be open.

Is it too cool then?

Thanks

The outdoor pools might be heated. But the nightime temps in that area could be in the 50's and daytime might be 60's or lower 70's so if it's not heated or indoors, the water will be way too cold.

Scott-
Keep in mind that even though resorts claim their pools are heated, they are never really that warm. I live in the Phoenix area and would personally never swim that time of year, even in a "heated" pool.

Out of state tourists will swim in the heated resort pools during the day. Locals do very little swimming in the winter. At nighttime the outside temperatures are too cool to even want to be outside in a swimsuit.

Another thought. Just to give you an idea of what it might be like. The other night the outlying areas of Phoenix went down into the 30's during the night. Even if the pool was heated, no one wants to be outside in a suit with temperatures like that.

The advice you're getting is a little vague IMO.
Look at the numbers and decide for yourself:

average nightly low in January: 41

daily high in January: 66

number of below freezing nights in January: 4

number of clear days in January: 14

Even if you're from Minnesota, swimming when it's 60 degrees, cloudy and breezy is not enjoyable for most people.
I'm not sure why so many people think Phoenix is balmy in winter. It's not.
