Are you ready for some football? How far would you travel for a big game?

I don't need an excuse to junk food- that's what movie night's for, lol! And by then, my mother's already planning for the holidays....so no parties, anyway
I go to UI- everyone on mom's side attended WSU (main reason I attended UI, really)
And having grown up in WA...I know that the popularity of a team/loyalty to team has a lot more to do with sold out stadiums than winning seasons do...

The point is merely that all big football programs sell out every year because they have TONS of loyal fans. The fact that one sells more than another is more of a reflection on how many tickets there are to sell than which school has the most/best fans.

There are Super Bowl Parties that are not about football at all. Ours was just like KathyK's- timewise, only the location (once the game starts) is duo and not outside. Different floors too, we are serious.
We used to have a three generational and Chicagoland wide betting system where you bought squares. Winners at the end of each quarter get 1/4th of the the total $$ sold. We do not do that any longer, and the parties HAVE become greatly reduced. The Superbowl starts too late for the serious watchers to do so all together now. (Too many babies and little kids.)
Ours was not neighborhood, was kids and kids' friends. When they were all in their 20's, it was a real hoot. No small talk, no crab grass conversations- football.
Both of my sons have traveled to Super Bowls and said they were worth the trip.

After having to go watch four young grandsons play on four different teams, the last thing I want to see is grown men playing the same game.
Didn't watch it when I was in high school. Wouldn't watch it when I was in College. Wouldn't even go watch the kids except that one of the few times I get to see the parents. And after football comes basketball and then baseball. And...ONE OF THE GRANDAUGHTERS plays Basketball and softball!!

Flew from Seattle to South Bend, IN and Columbus, OH to see the Washington Huskies play. Alas, both losses, but at least I got to see some great stadiums.
Last year, flew from Seattle to Columbus to see the Texas Longhorns play. Hurray, a win! Then we drove three hours from Columbus to Pittsburgh the next morning to watch the Titans-Steelers game--my cousin's son plays for the Titans. Another loss for the team I was rooting for, but I got to see Heinz Field, which is a pretty nice place.

HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!!
Went to New Oleans about 5x with the 49ers Boosters club.
We loved the city and the Saints fans so we went back just to watch a Saints/Panthers game.
I won't watch a Steelers game in person...bad juju!
Super Bowl parties and New Year's parties are alike...both are Amatuer Nights!
snowrooster...you sound like you could be related to Mrs kal when it comes to her football!
