Aqua socks vs. old tennis shoes
Any comments on wearing Aqua socks vs. old tennis shoes when snorkeling or just wading in the ocean?
Our family wears aqua socks when we go to waterparks or the beach here locally, but I didn't know if the corral and reefs would be too hard on them vs. tennis shoes. The aqua socks we own have rubber soles like tennis shoes.

You shouldn't be walking on the reefs and live coral anyway since it kills living coral to do so. Please don't do it.
Coral that is already dead and washed up on shore isn't any rougher on footwear than sand so I think aqua socks should be fine.

In Kauai we had to wear aqua socks because all the coral that was killed in various hurricanes was all over the ocean floor. The first day, none of us had aqua socks and our feet got BANGED up pretty badly. We were fine with the auqa socks but just note that if you are in a very rocky area the waves can still knock you into them causing your ankles to get a little beat up. Again, this was just in Kauai--in Maui we went in barefoot.
