Anywhere decent to stay in Stephenville, Texas?

Our son might go to a two day music event at Tarleton State University in late December. It is about 100 miles from out home. I was thinking of maybe spending the night, doing a little antiquing in Glen Rose or Granbury, etc.

Is there any place decent for a family to stay in Stephenville? I know about Rough Creek Lodge, but I don't want to pay that kind of money for a quick overnight. I've heard nice things about the Inn on the River in Glen Rose, but they don't take kids.

There are several chain motels in Stephenville. Expedia shows a Best Westerm Hampton Inn, and a Days Inn. Stephenville is the home of Tarleton State University, so it's not a total ghost town.

Once again... out Texas authority (ChristieP) has answered
Hey, Christie, how far is Glenrose? There are some mighty cute hotels and B&B's in Glenrose!

At the cute little B&Bs, our family of 5 would have to rent three rooms...if they'd even want my teens!

Hello missypie!
Be sure and go to Hico - not that far from Stephenville. Eat at the Koffee Kup. It's a great greasy spoon with delicious pies to boot! There are antique shops within walking distance as well.

I've looked into B&Bs, but none will take kids under age 16...usually. Take ChristieP's advice.

Thanks for the tip on Hico, darkforcemom. Isn't there a cool vintage/antique shop in Hico as well?

Yes - I think you can see it from the Koffe Kup - called Homestead. There is one in Fredericksburg as well, I believe.
