Anyone stayed in Corning, CA lately?

specifically the Lodge Hotel? I am visiting up there in March and taking my 5 year old son with me. Looking for somewhere safe and clean to stay in Corning.
Thanks!

Are you visiting relatives or something? Corning really isn't a city - it is a small place just off I-5 and there is quite literally nothing in the vicinity. I don't personally know the Lodge - but if you have relatives/friends there they would be able to give you the best advice (and if you don't have friends there, what is the attraction -- I'm not being rude - am truly curious).

That's a mystery to me also Janis. I reserved a motel room there over 10 years ago as a 1/2 way from San Jose to Crater Lake. We were ready to check in, and the guy tried to raise the price as well as being very rude. We cancelled and went on to Dunsmuir, a much nicer place to stay anyway. I can't recall the name, but I did report the motel to AAA.

Thanks. Yes, I know there is nothing in Corning, but I saw some new hotels pop up since my last visit and was wondering about the quality. My grandmother has lived here all my life. I just wasn't sure she'd be in a position for me and my son to stay with her, but she said yes, so all is well and we will stay with her. At least there are some decent places to eat in Red Bluff, which is fairly close. Thanks again for the responses

You might not be into chains, but we have stayed at the Corning Best Western more than once and have no complaints. Of course, all we ask is a clean room with hot water and comfy beds...no other amenities.
