Anyone stay at Warwick St REgis in San Fransisco?

Just found this hotel on Hotelres.com.with some pretty decent rates. Has anyone stayed there who would be willing to share info?

What happens in San Fransisco around Sept 28 into October... all the hotel rates go up. Is it harvest time?

End of Sept - Nov is very high season in San Fran. You may want to check out the Sir Francis Drake right off Union Sq. very cool, hip hotel, that's big enough to have everything and deals can be found. Scala's restuarant is great there too

Yes, Cammie, we're harvesting tourists at this time of the year.

John... Sir Francis is $200 and up per night... Warwick Regis is around $125. I would like to keep it under $150 per noc as I am also going to do the drive down Monterey Pennisula and will likely need mucho dinero for an inn etc. But thank you for the idea.

As for you Faina, oh how droll you are.. why can't a person ask a question on this board without getting sarcasm or hostility?

I agree with John--stay on Union Square. The Drake is a good value--or you could try the Juliana Hotel on Bush..my sister has stayed there and it's nice.

Cammie, We stayed at Warwick Regis about 10 years ago - we were just back in SF in June (stayed at the Four Seasons) and we went by the Warwick just to see if it was still as charming as we remembered.
10 years ago I made reservations at the Regis for 3 couples to celebrate my 40th birthday. We had a wonderful time. The rooms were SMALL but absolutely charming. We reserved a room with an attached sitting room (to use as a gathering place) so it was a little more spacious. The small bar in the lobby was a delightful spot to gather and the location was great. Across the street from one of the theaters where we had reservations and just a few easy short blocks to Union Square.
The staff was just great. Everyone knew us by name after just a few hours. We had 2 rental cars - we stayed 3 nights and then went to Napa.
I would recommend this property.
Enjoy

It's the Warwick Regis. Cammie, you may be confusing people by adding the "St." in the name. St. Regis is a very different hotel company! As for the San Francisco hotel, it was nice 10 years ago when I lived there but I'll leave the updates for folks who've been recently!

I was going to stay at the Warwick Regis in San Franciso until I found the room was tiny, had no air conditioning, and is located on one of the businest corners in the city. If you're looking for value, check out Pacific Heights Inn which has quiet, comfortable rooms and is located near the great shops and restaurants on Union Street. Free parking and convenient busses to down town. Great for walking too.

thanks all and sorry , I did confuse the issue by writing in the St. Regis when I mean Regis Warwick . So far not too many people raving about it so I better check out the other suggestions.

I was in SF recently, what was going on at Drake, looked to be remodeling? Ate across street at Sears Fine Diner or something like that; was good.

Cammie,
You lambasted Faina for a little (justified) sarcasm (not hostility), so
tell us about Harvest Season in San Francisco. What ARE you talking about??? Marijuana fields in the Haight? Soybeans on the slopes of Telegraph Hill? A parade of John Deeres down Market Street? Waving acres of golden wheat in the Sunset? Apple picking time in the Finacial District?

Oh. You meant grapes in the wine region, right? Well that's not in San Francisco.

Don, thanks for clarifying where they harvest grapes. Of course that's what I meant and since half the people going to wine country also go to San FransiscoI think it is quite reasonable to make the connection I did.
